The name explained it -- Comfortable Runabout Vehicle. For simplicity, Honda shortens it to the initials of CR-V. Last year, Honda allowed CR-V to grow up by casting new evolutionary designs that elevated it in size, style, comfort and performance. CR-V has a low center of gravity and a wide-track tread to improve vehicle stability when set to motion. Space in the cabin also expands with the larger package size, while cargo volume in the rear bay more than doubles. The cabin layout looks conventional with two tall bucket seats up front followed by the folding rear bench that holds two adults comfortably or three in a pinch. Three trim variations apply. Entry point comes with a FDW LX edition that piles on convenience features. The LX trim also works with 4WD, as does the deluxe EX trim. All CR-V trims use the same engine, a 2.4-liter in-line-four that delivers 160 hp. An automatic four-speed is standard, but a manual five-speed is available with 4WD. New editions show an enlarged center pocket on the dashboard designed to hold CD cases, and there are new grab rails above the rear bench rigged with coat hooks.
