Association Surveys Consumers About Electric Vehicle Ownership

The Automotive Service Association (ASA) posed the question, "Do you think you will ever own a solar-powered car?" on its Web site www.asashop.org in July 1999. Over 1,100 responses were calculated. Although the results were separated by a slight margin, more respondents stated that they would not own a solar-powered car. Of the 1,166 total respondents, 53 percent (617 people) said they would not buy a solar-powered car. So, for 47 percent of the respondents, purchasing a solar-powered car may be in their future.

More from this and nine previous surveys are available on ASA's Web site. Intended to be fun and entertaining, the online surveys are non-scientific with participation from both automotive professionals and consumers.

A new survey was recently posted asking, "What is the single most important factor when selecting an automotive repair shop?"
