Alabama Lemon Law

If you have purchased a defective car in Alabama, contact a lawyer now for a free consultation. Our law firm may be able to help you with your lemon law case.

Many new cars have significant problems. If the problems affect the safety, market value or use of the vehicle, the consumer might be entitled to either a new car or monetary damages, which includes attorney's fees, under Alabama's Lemon Law. There are certain rules and regulations that you must follow in order to file a lemon law claim in Alabama.

  1. The claim must be made within the first year or 12,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
  2. The manufacturer must have an opportunity to repair the vehicle three (3) times, and one final time after notice is given.
  3. The notice must be sent via certified mail.

The lemon law claim should describe the car, state the problem and describe all previous attempts to correct the problem by identifying the person, firm or corporation who or which made such an attempt, and the time the attempt was made. Finally, the customer must follow the manufacturer's internal dispute resolution procedure. Before beginning this process, it would be advisable to consult with an Alabama lemon law attorney in order to fully comply with the statute.

THE 2003 LEMON LIST

Thanks to the efforts of the Center for Auto Safety, we are able to provide you with the vehicle complaints on file with the National Highway for Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Each year, thousands of Americans call their government to register complaints about their vehicles. The federal government collects this information but has never released it to the general public. The complaint index is based on a ratio of the number of complaints for each vehicle to the sales of that vehicle. NHTSA can only rate vehicles whose models haven't changed since 2001; newer cars do not have enough data.
