To commemorate its trophy-collecting World Rally Championship race cars, Subaru also casts sedan and wagon variations of the Impreza WRX, a small package with wide track and independent suspension plus turbocharging of the boxer-style engine.

A recent addition to the series is the WRX STi ripped to an incredible 300 hp. STi totes the most powerful four-pack in America. Its turbocharger comes directly from Subaru's WRC racers with the boost climbing to 14.5 psi, while a big-capacity intercooler uses a manually-controlled water spray for additional cooling.

All vehicles from Subaru employ an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system that operates quite simply, as power from the engine moves directly through an electronically-controlled transfer case to whichever wheels support traction, with scant loss of energy or reduction in fuel efficiency in the process.
