Saturn's sport-utility wagon debuted as a 2002 product of compact size conformed with four passenger doors plus a back gate for cargo. It returns in 2003 with several new optional features.

Vue's styling seems rugged and strong but also progressive and friendly. It reveals familiar proportions of a SUV with the tall stance and boxy cabin but also the clean lines of an industrial design with simple and clean shapes.

Vue stocks innovative features not found on any other vehicle in the compact-class of sport-utility wagons. The cabin carries twin front buckets followed by a bench for three that splits 70/30 and each section folds flat to expand the rear cargo bay.

The cargo bay is broad and uncluttered, with the spare tire tucked below the floor. A clever pop-up organizer cradles sacks of groceries or other small parcels and keeps contents from sliding around. Also, there are various tie-down anchors, hooks for grocery bags and two recessed receptacles big enough to hold a gallon jug.

For locomotion, Vue pitches the EcoTec four-cylinder engine and a V6. The dual-cam four generates 143 hp, while the 3.0-liter V6 makes 181 hp.

The entry level Vue has front-wheel-drive (FWD) format packing the four-cylinder engine and a manual five-speed transmission.

Next comes Vue in all-wheel-drive (AWD) format with a CVT, followed by the V6 Vue coupled to a five-speed automatic.

Options range from anti-lock brakes to curtain-style side air bags, a sunroof and packaged power equipment, plus new options like leather upholstery and deluxe audio.
