Designers at GM describe the Relay as a crossover sport van that varies from a conventional minivan due to the extended length of the body and a flat cabin floor with pop-out seats to make room for hauling recreational gear like trail bikes or snowboards.

The boxy exterior package, carved with a broad prow and high-rising cabin, looks clean and stylish but similar in shape to the Vue SUV.

A generous cabin contains three tiers of seats for seven with twin buckets on first and second rows and a back bench for three that splits and folds.

For power, the FWD Relay draws from GM's 3.5-liter V6 rated at 200-hp with a 4-speed automatic transaxle.

Anti-lock brakes are standard on Relay, with GM's Versatrak AWD traction system on the list of options.

Two trim levels appear -- Relay x2 with 17-inch steel wheels and upscale Relay x3 rolling on six-spoke silver painted aluminum wheels. Saturn's new wagon also packs a DVD-based video entertainment system as stock for each trim.
