Subtle changes appear with new face and tail treatment for the Lincoln's mid-size sports sedan, and all models show dual chrome exhaust tips now and offer HID headlamps. Inside, the tailored cabin has an international flavor in a leather-lined layout with twin front bucket seats followed by a rear bench with twin sculptured spaces. Heated and cooled front seats are a new option for 2003, along with heated rear seats. Genuine burl walnut wood trims the cockpit, with satin nickel accents also applied. Engines use six or eight cylinders. The 3.9-liter aluminum V8 features dual cams and produces 280 hp this year, a gain of 28 power points. The 3.0-liter V6 climbs 12 points to 232 hp. Either engine links to a five-speed electronic automatic transmission, with optional H-gate SelectShift clutch-less controls. In addition, the V6 mixes a Getrag five-speed manual in a package for sporty performance. The AdvanceTrac dynamic stability control system is available, as is Ford's Safety Canopy.
