Castroneves Ends Victory Drought At Gateway

Two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves earned his fourth career IRL IndyCa Series victory Aug. 10 at the Emerson Indy 250 at Gateway International Raceway.

Is better late than never said CastronevesI never lost faith in my crew. My crew never lost faith in me. They always believed. I guess thas the way it should be.

Is tough, but you have to keep knocking on the door, and one day, yore going to catch a break. Unfortunately, it took a little more (time) than we expected, but this is racing. This is the game

Tony Kanaan finished second in the No. 11 Team 7-Eleven Dallara/Honda/ Firestone, while 2003 Indianapolis 500 champion Gil de Ferran finished third in the No. 6 Marlboro Team Penske Dallara/Toyota/Firestone.

It was a good run for us said KanaanI gave everything I had, but it wasn't enough for Helio. But hey, the championship lead is back on us. Let's keep working on it. That's what we're here for. We're fighting for the championship. I gave 100 percent to win, but I couldn't do it, so I'll take second

Tomas Scheckter finished fourth in the No. 10 Target Chip Ganassi Racing Panoz G Force/Toyota/Firestone, while Dan Wheldon rounded out the top five in the No. 26 Klein Tools/Jim Beam Dallara/Honda/Firestone.

The battle for the IndyCar Series championship remains tight, with Kanaan leading de Ferran 357-350 in the point standings. Castroneves follows with 347 points, while Scott Dixon and Kenny Brack rank fourth and fifth with 333 and 268 points, respectively.

Anton Julian, left-rear tire changer for the No. 31 Corteco Dallara/Toyota/Firestone, is in fair condition after a pit-road accident on Lap 40 of the 200-lap event. Julian, from Auckland, New Zealand, was transferred by air to St. Louis University Hospital. According Dr. Henry Bock, medical services director for the Indy Racing League, Julian has a concussion, a right-knee injury and will be admitted overnight for further evaluation.
