Leitzinger Holds off Pruett to Win Rolex Series Race at Mid-Ohio

LEXINGTON, Ohio -- With just seven laps remaining, Butch Leitzinger passed Scott Pruett in Turn 1 on a restart and held off a five-car train to take the victory in Saturday's Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Leitzinger crossed the finish line just 0.465 seconds ahead of Pruett and 2.1 seconds ahead of the sixth-place finisher. For Leitzinger and his No. 4 Pontiac Crawford co-driver Elliott Forbes-Robinson, the triumph was their second of the season.

Pruett and co-driver Luis Diaz finished second in the No. 01 Lexus Riley, followed by Daytona Prototype points co-leaders Max Angelelli and Wayne Taylor in the No. 10 Pontiac Riley in third place. The third-place finish for Angelelli and Taylor came just one day after their car caught fire during qualifying, which forced the team to work overnight to compete in the race.

Michael McDowell and Memo Gidley finished fourth in the No. 19 BMW Riley, followed by Max Papis and Jorg Bergmeister in the No. 66 Pontiac Riley. Tracy Krohn and Nic Jonsson finished sixth, 2.126 seconds behind the winners.

Kelly Collins and Tom Milner took the GT class victory in a BMW.
