GEM Celebrates Production Launch of All-New Six-Passenger Electric Vehicles

Global Electric Motorcars (GEM), LLC, a division of DaimlerChrysler, is expanding its lineup of electric vehicles from two- and four-passenger vehicles and two utility vehicle models to include an all-new six-passenger model: GEM e6. Production of this vehicle has launched at the company's headquarters and assembly plant in Fargo, N.D. Chrysler Group officials say the street-legal GEM e6 provides an efficient transportation solution for larger families or shuttling groups of people around real estate developments and college, medical and military campuses. A special “S” package equips the GEM e6 with a larger battery pack that allows for extended range (up to 40 continuous miles) and features a utility bed. The “S” package GEM e6 is an all-around shuttle and delivery vehicle for use on roads, within resorts, airports and military bases where ruggedness and continuous-duty is an issue. All GEM vehicles have tops speeds of 25 miles-per-hour (mph) and are classified as zero emission vehicles.
