Discrimination Blog – 04/03/2005

Discrimination, in our case sexual discrimination, is a very uncomfortable subject to discuss. However discussion is what it needs more than anything else in order for the problem to be exposed and, hopefully, corrected.

Gender discrimination is something that NewCarBuyingGuide.com experiences on a daily basis. In the ten years that NewCarBuyingGuide.com has been in publication, little has changed. It is still the case that most automakers do not give NewCarBuyingGuide.com the same access to vehicles and corporate executives that publications reaching predominantly male audiences receive. Male-targeted publications of any size -- even ones without audiences at all -- receive preferential treatment, and continuous access to product for review. Descriptions of what occurs with each automaker will begin to be listed in this section over time.

Women and men who wish to see gender equality in the United States need to hear about the problems other people experience at the hands of major corporations so that they are aware of the morality of the companies they do business with. This is part of helping consumers to know which companies to support and to help NewCarBuyingGuide.com obtain the same access that male-targeted publications receive, so that we can provide comprehensive consumer information.

We will be posting our thoughts on the subject of discrimination as it relates to both companies, and individuals. We also hope that our reluctant willingness to speak out on the subject will help things change and that you will participate in the discussion.
