Military Historical Tour’s ‘Last-Mission Reunion Tour’ To Guam

Tumon Bay, Guam, - Military Historical Tours has announced the "Last-Mission Reunion Tour" to Guam from August 13 19, 2006. With the tour, United States Air Force pilots, crewmen and family members of the 315th Bomb Wing and others are invited to return once again to the island that was their home in the Pacific during World War II.

While on the Island of Guam the members of the 315th Bomb Wing will meet to honor and remember the individuals and events that played a part in what was possibly the most successful air bombing campaign in U.S. military history. According to military records, 1200 sorties were flown during the critical mission.

The remembrance tour will include a memorial service on August 15, 2006 at the 315th memorial site at Northwest Field.

A pretour visit will include Saipan and Tinian, where the group will visit historical WWII battle sites as well as take in The War in the Pacific Museum and the CNMI Museum.

Situated in the Western Pacific, the island of Guam played a significant role in battles fought in the Pacific Theatre of World War II. Since the island's liberation from Japanese forces on July 21, 1944, veterans have returned often to Guam to remember and commemorate that important day.

Guam's geographic location - approximately 1,550 miles south of Japan and 3,800 miles west of Hawaii makes it the gateway to Micronesia. The island provides beautiful, pristine beaches, championship golf courses, world-class diving and snorkeling, a variety of cultural and historical sites, activities and events and the warm hospitality of its Chamorro people. With excellent air service to cities throughout Asia, Guam is a convenient stop-over point for trans-Pacific travelers. Guam has more than a dozen luxury resorts and an equally diverse selection of moderately priced hotels to meet the needs of every traveler.
