The Camberley Brown Hotel Louisville Kentucky

Built by wealthy Louisville businessman J. Graham Brown as a tribute to his brother, Martin, The Brown Hotel opened in downtown Louisville at the corner of Fourth and Broadway on October 25, 1923. In 1923 Louisville was the 34th largest city in the country with a population of 235,000. Fourth Street was already an established promenade, and The Brown became the cornerstone of "The Magic Corner," playing a central role in the activities and events of downtown Louisville over the decades.

The hotel quickly became the city's business and social center, bringing a new energy to downtown Louisville. Soon a lavish theater, a church and a large medical and professional building opened adjacent to the hotel. In 1925, J. Graham Brown built the Brown Office Building just east of the hotel, which included the recently refurbished Brown Theatre.

The hotel offers 293 elegantly appointed guest rooms and suites, over 16,000 square feet of meeting and function space.

The Muhammad Ali Suite was dedicated in December of 2001 by Muhammad Ali himself during the premiere of "Ali", the blockbuster movie starring Will Smith. The suite is decorated with signed Ali memorabilia including a photo and boxing gloves. This luxurious One-Bedroom Executive Suite is the size of a small apartment and features a separate private bedroom with a King-sized poster board bed with a marble Jacuzzi tub in the master bath. The suite also features a second bathroom with a tub/shower, a dining room with wet bar and refrigerator, plenty of closet space, and a living room with a full-size sofa bed and sitting area.

Two floors of the hotel have been designated as The Camberley Club. The Club offers a private lounge with a complimentary, upscale continental breakfast, afternoon snacks, hors d'oeuvres, and evening cocktails and cordials. Rooms feature specially designed bedding with triple sheeting, 250-thread count sheets, a duvet cover and down comforter, and six down pillows. In addition to special amenities like terry cloth robes and fresh flowers, a dedicated concierge is available mornings and evenings to answer questions, make dinner reservations, and assist you with any details to make your stay more enjoyable.

There is a 24-hour Fitness Center and Business Center, three restaurants and our famous Lobby Bar. The Brown's fine dining restaurant, The English Grill, has repeatedly been voted Louisville's Best Restaurant.

The Brown is also close to business, shopping and attractions such as the home of the Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs, and The Palace Theater, featuring world-class entertainment. The airport is just six miles away, and hotel guests enjoy complimentary van shuttle service to and from the airport. As in decades past, The Brown figures prominently in the social life of Louisville as its opulent ballrooms are the site of many of Louisville's most elegant and gracious social functions.
