Nissan Donates 10 Quest Minivans to MADD’s Multimedia Elementary School Programs Across the Country

Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) announced today its support of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and its elementary school assembly shows. MADD's shows, Street Smarts and Superhero, the newest show being unveiled in early 2004, educate youth about the dangers of alcohol on the brain before the age of 21, and how to make good decisions about their health and safety.

As the exclusive automotive sponsor of these programs, NNA is donating 10 Nissan Quest 2004 minivans that will be used to support MADD's elementary multimedia shows. The celebrity-packed, 25-minute shows are fast-paced and catch students' attention by using an exciting blend of imagery, special effects, celebrity interviews, clips from major motion pictures and segments from current music videos.

"Our shows give young people a reason and the confidence to say 'no thanks' to alcohol and teaches them ways to protect themselves in situations that make them feel unsafe," said Wendy J. Hamilton, national president of MADD. "Children learn that they have the power to take control of their own lives."

Research shows that the earlier youth begin drinking, the more likely they are to suffer injuries, binge drink and drive drunk. Alcohol is the No. 1 drug problem among youth, killing 6.5 times more young people than all other illicit drugs combined.

"Nissan is proud to support this wonderful program that will have such a positive impact on the lives of children nationwide," said Jim Morton, senior vice president, Administration and Finance, NNA. "By empowering our youth through education we can ensure a brighter future for everyone."
