Incident at Severstal Steel at Ford Rouge Center

DEARBORN, Michigan -- Following is a statement from Ford:

Earlier today a steel hauling unit owned by Severstal Steel was transporting molten steel and became lodged exiting a storage bay on Severstal property. As reported to Ford, molten steel sloshed out of the carrier causing at least one of the carrier's tires to explode.

Two Ford Motor Company employees were transported to area hospitals for treatment of minor injuries. We are aware of fewer than 10 additional individuals with minor injuries as well.

There has been no impact on production at Ford's Dearborn Truck Plant.
