Base Model

Bureau Of Land Management

Banger

A slang term to describe an engine. Generally used in conjuction with the number of cylinders, i.e. a 4-banger is a 4-cylinder engine. Read More »

Banking

The slope of a track from the wall to the apron, generally measured in the corners. Read More »

Big Block

The terms “big block” and “small block” became popular in the sixties when American manufacturers developed a second larger group of V8 pushrod engines, usually for trucks and NASCAR racing. Belt Drive

Usually found on Harley Davidsons, a belt drive has notches molded in it and is attached between a sprocket at the transmission output and a sprocket attached to the rear wheel. A belt drive requires no lubrication, so it is one of the cleanest final drive systems. Read More »

A minimal car that is not expected to provide more than basic transportation. Read More »

Black Flag

Black flag means return to your pit for consultation. This is the dreaded flag that no driver wants to see. It means “go to your pit, get off the racetrack, you’ve done something wrong.” Often it means a driver is dumping fluids on the track making it dangerous, or was speeding on the pit road, which is against the rules.
