Mercury Shows the 2006 Mountaineer at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show

The new 2006 Mercury Mountaineer mid-size sport-utility vehicle has made some significant changes over the previous model, including an all-new, 292 horsepower 4.6-liter V-8 mated to a six-speed automatic transmission as an option.

An improved version of the 4.0-liter V-6 with 210 hp and five-speed automatic is standard. A stronger, stiffer frame, all-new independent rear suspension and a revised front suspension, bigger brakes and improved steering combine to make the 2006 model the quietest, most capable in Mountaineer’s 10-year history.

Refined styling includes the signature waterfall grille, front and rear bumper fascia with satin aluminum strips, clear taillight lenses, new lift gate and optional 18-inch machined aluminum wheels. Innovative power-deployable running boards are fully integrated into the rocker panels, hidden out of sight.

Mountaineer’s all-new interior seats up to 7-passengers, has a new instrument panel an available power-folding third-row seat with an absolutely flat load floor. On Sale: Fall 2005.
