Posted on: 11/29/2004 01:06 PM | Hi ladies,
Put this question to the boys at the local 4x4 shop (silly
me) and got a gobbeldy gook answer full of specs and
nonsense about climbing boulders the size of miami...they
put the Toyo on top but I'm needing a second opinion!
I am returning to the 4x4 world after a long absence (Chevy
Silvarado via Saturn via Mustang) and have the option of
purchasing a 87 Nissan (fully loaded right down to the
sunroof, V6 and extended cab) and a totally basic 91 Toyota
(22re, no stereo) -- both have comprable milage and are in
good shape for age (okay the Toyo's in a bit better shape)
I anticipate doing some light to moderate off wheeling (no
Rubicon for me) mostly sand, and because of the area i live
in we have heavy seasonal mud/flooding. Will also take trips
to ski and back east so that means snow.
Obvious practial considerations: the toyo gets way better
gas milage and the 22re can't be beat but the toyota will
set me back about 1500 more than the nissan
intitally...Don't plan on having the truck more than 3-5
years but trying to make a good decision based on
practicality, sutablity for use, and reliablity with fun
being a minor but important factor...
I am not willing to make payments on a newer vehicle
(waiting for the hybrid trucks) and just need a good cheap
reliable ride to do some traveling until aforemetioned
hybrids hit the market...Thoughts, input, suggestions? I
appreciate any imput you might have! |
