Hi,
I'm a student in the UK, and I'm really interested in
muscle car restoration as a career. The problem is that I'm
having trouble finding out how to start, where to get
training etc. Could anyone give me any tips? I'm only 19 so
I don't have much experience, and buying a car to do up
myself isn't possible :(

Thank you

Sarah

1) You are a student of??? Are you in autoshop school?
2) Start going to races and "car shows." You will meet
(mostly guys) people that can give you advice on where to
get training in Britain (or abroad). Obviously, be aware
of slick talkers that want more ...
3) There must be hot rod clubs, rally clubs, etc. where you
are. THESE are the people with experience.
4) WHAT part of the restoration team do you want to shoot
for? Wiring, motor, body work, upholstery, detailing,
paint...???

Good luck.

Welcome to the world of cars. I commend you on your
undertaking. The advice I give you would be to find a
website that panders to hotrodding. From there you may be
able to find local clubs. I am originally from a very small
community in Fargo, North Dakota in the U.S. The farthest
place from auto racing you could possibly find. My
determination finally lead me to lead mechanic and driver
of a formula car racing team ranked in the top three of
formula continental. Later, finances ended my driving but I
got in five fantastic years that I will never forget. The
auto club groups you will find will give you the entrance
into the community that you need. From there dont let
anybody tell you you can't do it because you are a female.
My mother is the strongest person I have ever known in my
life and I hope you do well. If I can ever help you contact
me at my-auto-mechanic.com. I will be happy to answer any
questions you have as a 17 year master mechanic of a car
dealership and a lover of all cars.
Good luck,
Toby Cossette
