Toyota's mid-size SUV wraps the luxurious ride quality and plush comforts of a refined front-wheel-drive (FWD) Toyota passenger sedan in the package of a sleek wagon with four doors and flexible seating on three rows plus cargo space in the back bay with access through a rear liftgate.

Powertrains range from a 2.4-liter four-pack that pushes 155 hp for 2006 to a 3.3-liter V6 cranked to 215 hp. To increase tire traction, Highlander has an optional all-wheel-drive (AWD) system with center differential to divide engine torque equally between front and back wheels.

Standard to every Highlander is an air conditioner, floor and ceiling consoles, tilting steering wheel, cruise control and a stereo sound kit, plus a remote keyless entry system and roof rack with cross bars.
