Suzuki's largest sport-utility wagon carries as many as seven riders on three rows of seats in a cabin that stretches about a foot longer than the Grand Vitara.

The exterior design appears more sophisticated and serious, as interior appointments rise in tone and quality.

Trim designations change for 2003 to include multiple tiers beginning with the base XL-7, a well-equipped version for five riders and available in 2WD and 4WD formats.

A second XL-7 dubbed "3rd Row Option" increases cabin capacity to seven with the third bench installed.

Deluxe versions for a Limited model packed with gear come with either two or three rows, while an ultimate Limited issue marked "Loaded" shows rear air conditioning and a climate controller aboard, plus exterior running boards.

Power for all models flows from a 2.7-liter V6 that generates 183 hp.

Inside, there's a new dashboard design as faced with wood-grain finish and chrome accents. Air conditioning and a keyless remote entry system are stock items, along with a new seven-speaker sound package and in-dash CD player.
