Kia has unveiled a new five-door concept car called Soul that's expected to show up in the 2007 line as a new small-scale crossover SUV. The Soul looks brash as honed with bulging wheel flares but slab-square flanks and an upright cabin design.

Note the two rear-hinged back doors on each side -- they're dubbed "freestyle doors" and swing wide to permit ease of loading passengers or cargo. At the tail, Soul's liftgate has a fold-out compartment to house messy sports gear like muddy shoes or wetsuits.

Power comes from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a five-speed manual stick.
