Jeep, the DaimlerChrysler brand devoted exclusively to four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicles, has a new SUV called Commander with three rows of seats for seven passengers. Chassis and hardware come from Jeep's flagship Grand Cherokee, including three powertrain options and choices for three different 4WD systems. A stepped roof adds headroom for riders on second and third rows.

For power, Commander offers a 3.7-liter V6 with 210 hp, a 4.7-liter V8 pumping 235 hp or a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 racked to 330 hp. For 4WD action, Commander comes with three options -- Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Drive II.
