The next new product from Ford will be a new, entry-level sedan tagged the Fusion. Riding on a front-wheel-drive (FWD) platform which originated with the mid-size Mazda6, Fusion for 2006 will wear expressive styling outside and have a passenger compartment large enough to carry five comfortably.

Fusion has two engine options -- a new aluminum 2.3-liter four-cylinder plant or a dual-cam 3.0-liter V6.

By 2007 Fusion may also score a hybrid gas-electric powertrain to push fuel economy figures sky-high.
