Rugged Sport, a two-door wagon derived from the previous Explorer, looks different from the current four-door Explorer and carries different equipment. This year, there are three trims with XLS, XLT and XLT Premium. All gain updated interior features including new low-back bucket seats and a two-tone color scheme. Sport uses a 4.0-liter single-cam V6 with five-speed manual or four-speed automatic. A four-wheel-drive (4WD) system with shift-on-the-fly capability is optional.
