The RT-10 roadster and GTS coupe, original versions of Dodge's two-seat sports car, faded into history in 2002 but a new design for the roadster emerges in 2003 and it beats everything else on the road. New Viper RT-10 looks longer and leaner and meaner, and it brings home awesome performance figures. Viper's V10 has been expanded from 488 to 505 cubic inches, which pushes the power curve up to 500 hp. All of the torque, directed to Viper's 19-inch rear wheels, lets it romp from zero to 60 mph in less than four seconds, with top speed climbing to 190 mph. A heavy-duty six-speed manual transmission is standard, along with new aluminum components for the four-wheel independent suspension plus huge disc brakes tied to four-wheel ABS. Exterior forms look familiar yet Viper's long hood slinks lower and there are swept-back fenders on-board with deep-cut scallops on the flanks. In the snug cockpit Viper supports new instruments with center-mount tachometer and the speedometer notched to 220 mph, plus a push-button starter.
