Chrysler's 300 Series sports sedan for the large-car class looks like an exclusive luxury coach of bold dimensions with an audacious face, upright structure and chiseled-block body. Its wheelbase is stretched and the engine mounts up front but all power flows to the rear wheels as with elite European touring sedans.

Three engines are available in the 2005 fleet to power this car through four trims tagged as base 300, 300 Touring, luxurious 300 Limited and the flagship 300C, which totes a high-tech rendition of Chrysler's fabled Hemi engine with hemispheric combustion chambers and a multi-displacement system (MDS). The engine, a bored-out upgrade of the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 elevated to 6.1 liters, nets 425 hp along with screaming torque.

Yet there's more to come -- the 300C SRT-8. It carries a chin spoiler and tail spoiler, Brembo-brand brakes and a race-tuned suspension plus twin exhaust tips that foretell of high-octane power.
