2003 Cadillac Escalade Large Luxury SUV

A second generational treatment for Cadillac's full-size sport-utility wagon came in 2002 and continues in 2003 with new features applied, such as passenger-sensing air bags, high intensity discharge (HID) headlamps, power-adjustable brake and accelerator pedals with memory, and options like XM satellite radio and a DVD-based video entertainment package. Escalade packs aboard its boxy structure every conceivable mechanical weapon for serious road combat, along with every convenience in a leather-wrapped passenger compartment that cradles seven in the lap of luxury. It's also charged with massive power. The top edition, outfitted with an automatic all-wheel-drive (AWD) traction device, totes an enormous 6.0-liter V8 engine that produces 345 horsepower -- best of any sport-ute. Power is applied to all wheels through an AWD mechanism that's always engaged. Also automatic is the Z55 Autoride suspension with continuously-variable road-sensing damping and air-leveling shock absorbers for precise ride control. The AWD variation stocks a 5.3-liter V8 engine with 285 hp.
