Bayliss is the Oldest Winner of a WSBK Championship

Bayliss wins his second title after 2001 and does it at 37 years, 6 months and 1 day and he is the oldest winner of a WSBK™ championship. The previous record was set by Fogarty, that in 1999 won his last title at 34 years, 3 months and 9 days. Corser in 2005 won at 33 years 10 months and 12 days.

BAYLISS' 12TH POLE – Bayliss scores in Imola his 12th pole, the 5th of the season. It's the first time that during his SBK™ career Troy manages to score 5 poles in a season, in 2002 he stopped at 4. The last time that a rider scored 5 poles in a season was in 2004 when Laconi started from pole in Valencia, Phillip Island, Monza, Silverstone and Imola.
The record of poles in a season is 10, scored by Doug Polen in 1991.

FIRST WIN FOR BARROS - At his 21st start Alex Barros wins his first race and sets a new record, the one related to the 'oldest' maiden win with 35 years, 11 months and 13 days. The previous record was set by John Reynolds in Brands Hatch 2000 race 1 with 35 years 3 months and 18 days.
Barros is the eighth winner this season and in order to find a season with more winners we must go back to 2001 when there were 9 different winners: Ben Bostrom, Bayliss, Edwards, Corser, Tamada, Xaus, Hodgson, Chili and Laconi.
It's the first win for a rider from Brazil, the 12th country to have a winning rider in WSBK™ history.

BAYLISS REACHES CORSER – With his win in race 2 Troy Bayliss reaches Troy Corser at the second spot all-time for wins: 33. The road to Fogarty, 59 wins, is quite long.
Bayliss with the win scores his podium number 61, equalling Chili at the 5th place all-time.

CORSER AT 250 – Having started both races Corser records 250 race starts, the second rider in SBK™ history after Chili.
