Christopher Edward Bangle, Chief of Design in the Development Division of BMW AG

Chris Bangle is Chief of Design in the Development Division of BMW AG in Munich, Germany. He is responsible for overseeing every aspect of BMW Group design globally including BMW cars and Sport Activity Vehicles, BMW Motorcycles, BMW Motorsports, MINI cars, Rolls-Royce prototypes and lifestyle accessories.

Mr. Bangle is also a member of the Board of Directors of DESIGNWORKS/USA, BMW's wholly-owned design subsidiary located in Newbury Park, CA. DESIGNWORKS/USA is an internationally recognized industrial design firm with the unique capability of designing and modeling precision consumer products, full-size cars, trains and airplanes. His design philosophy was recently published in a by-lined article in Harvard Business Review.

Mr. Bangle joined BMW AG in October 1992, after serving as the Director of Fiat Centro Stile/Design. Mr. Bangle held various positions at Fiat Centro Stile, including Head of Exterior Design and Head of the Exterior Studio. Earlier, Mr. Bangle worked at Adam Opel AG as an Interior Designer and the Deputy Director of Interior Design. From 1978 until 1981, Mr. Bangle was an Assistant Designer at Hartkopf Associates.

Mr. Bangle attended the University of Wisconsin and earned a bachelor of science degree from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. He currently lives in Munich, Germany with his wife and son.

Mr. Bangle also designs and creates multi-media works of art including large-scale portraits, furniture, carpets and shoes.
