RICHMOND, Virginia - In LA, you are what you drive, according to a poll conducted by CarMax, Inc. The results of the poll of 24,000 visitors to carmax.com show that more than any place else in the U.S., citizens of Los Angeles judge one another by the car they drive. Eighty percent of respondents from Los Angeles thought people in the city judged one another by the cars they drove, compared to 68 percent in other cities across the U.S.

When it comes to the car types that best represent personalities in LA, the two are SUV and luxury. SUVs were five percentage points lower than the rest of the country, but still the top ranked car type at 24 percent of respondents. Luxury cars came in second at 19 percent, almost double that of the rest of the country, which came in at 10 percent.
