Consumer Guide(R) Automotive Announces Winners of Inaugural Chicago Auto Show Awards

CHICAGO, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Consumer Guide Automotive, the definitive source for new and used car reviews, today announced the first recipients of its Most Significant New Introduction Awards. The Lexus ES 350 and Toyota Tundra won the honors, which were awarded at the 2006 Chicago Auto Show being held at McCormick Place.

Consumer Guide's editors considered only new or completely redesigned cars and trucks that were exclusive to the 2006 Chicago Auto Show as potential award candidates. The winning vehicles were determined based on their outstanding consumer value as well as their innovative, non-standard features.

"As Chicago's hometown automotive experts, we wanted to help visitors attending the nation's premier consumer show -- as well as car buyers everywhere -- recognize the most significant introductions on display at McCormick Place," Consumer Guide Automotive associate publisher Mark Bilek said. "There were several noteworthy unveilings this year; however, after careful consideration, Consumer Guide Automotive editors collectively felt that the Lexus ES 350 and Toyota Tundra were most deserving of the distinction."

The selection process for the awards involved each editor allocating 25 points among all vehicles open for consideration. Vehicles were awarded no more than 10 points and winners were chosen based on the highest number of overall points in both the car and truck categories.

"Auto buyers like to know what automotive professionals consider the best cars and trucks on the market," said Grant Whitmore, Consumer Guide vice president and general manager. "With so many factors to evaluate when purchasing a new vehicle, the Most Significant New Introduction Awards help consumers identify one worth considering."
